Grace and Oliver
Grace and Oliver
An exquisite coat is an investment, not a fashion accessory. This is a motto of a great coat brand Grace and Oliver that can brag with British heritage and quality Italian fabrics. It is one of a kind with unique styles that come in limited addition giving you the luxury to be one of the few to enjoy a great design. Specialising on quality coats Grace and Oliver offers an amazing fashion experience like no other.
What is Grace and Oliver and what it represents?
Grace and Oliver are luxury women’s and menswear coat brand that fuses exceptional, innovative design and original product with an uncompromising commitment to delivering quality and craftsmanship. Aiming towards a style aware niche with a target demographic of 30+.
What is your fashion background; were you always involved in fashion?
Our sister coat brand has been at the top end of the market for the past 60 years. Our coats were sold by the likes of Selfridges and Harrods but a competitive market eventually meant a drop in quality and price. We continue to supply the high street with better end coats using quality Italian fabrics.
How was Grace and Oliver born? What inspired it?
Grace and Oliver is a brand born not only from a passion of finest outerwear but also from the frustration of being unable to find or supply to our customers the exceptional quality for the right price on the market. Here at Grace and Oliver we want to push the boundaries and offer something different and more individual, a top end experience.
Why coats? Surely you felt something is missing on the market?
Our heritage is manufacturing coats and that is what we specialise in. We know what the stores on the high street are buying as we cater for a lot of brands. We felt there was a gap in the market for something different - for better quality, for better fabrics and individual designs that cannot be bought elsewhere.
What is the motto of the brand and what message do you want to share?
Quality limited edition pieces to allow our customers some level of individuality.
Your styles are certainly versatile. Tell us more about them.
Our pieces are all individually designed and all versatile in their own right. Some are more suited for day/business, others more day into evening. For winter 15/16 our coats have a more formal slant but can certainly be dressed down for a more laid back, weekend feel. We are also keen to offer new interesting fabrics to create a point of difference.
You state that you only create a few coats in each size. Why so?
We wanted to create a USP (unique selling proposition). We want our customers to feel unique and be able to express their individuality in our coats so they know that the coats they buy will be limited and they won’t see lots of other people in the same style.
This way we can refresh our range constantly with new exciting styles and hopefully they will come back to buy from us time and time again.
How much do you follow fashions trends with your designs?
We are aware of what is going on, on the catwalks, what the trends and keys colours for the season will be but we don’t tend to follow or copy the big designers. We design special pieces into fabrics we find and love. We follow social media, film, theatre, exhibitions etc so we know what trends will be coming up and work into them that way.
Agnes blue cape is so gorgeous. How would you recommend that you wear it?
The Agnes cape is the cover-up of choice this season. Designed to elevate day and evening looks alike, cut to a beautifully tailored silhouette. Best worn with a skinny pant or jean for the day or a sleek cigarette pant and heels for the evening.
What makes your coats unique?
Individual design, limited pieces, colour, quality Italian fabrics.
How does your creative process look like?
We work with some of the best fabric Mills and find new interesting fabrics. Once we have these, we then look at key looks for the new season and design into them accordingly. We also spend time choosing the right trims for each style.
What is new for autumn winter?
Capes; sleeveless; faux fur; shearling.
What are your plans for the future?
We are an emerging designer brand in our own right.
Bespoke design service – made to measure, to create individual pieces tailored to each customer.
