Luscious and kissable lips
We all wish to have kissable lips, soft as a silk and lustrous as moonlight. Unfortunately cold weather dries them out, breezy wind is a cause for chapped lips while warm winter sun can also play havoc with them. This results in unattractive, chapped and cracked lips, far from luscious and soft that we desire.
First there is a simple yet necessary rule about hydration. When you leave your body without water, this is immediately seen on your skin, lips and bad health. Eat leafy greens, drink water and herbal teas but mostly avoid dehydration by ditching coffee, black tea and alcohol.
Use coconut oil
There are several benefits of coconut oil’s usage and the most important is that coconut oil locks-in moisture so it will help you heel your cracked and dry lips. With healing properties they will soon be soft again. Apply some extra virgin coconut oil in the morning and evening, rub a little and let it absorb.
Lips are coloured skin so the same rule about exfoliation applies. You have to remove dead cells in order to return shine and allow beauty products to get soaked in. You really don’t need any extra and expensive lip scrub; your toothbrush will be more than perfect. Rub gently and with light pressure to avoid skin tearing and allow loose skin to flake off.
Olive oil before bed
Before you say good night devote five minutes to your lip care and massage them with olive oil. The short massage will improve blood circulation, allowing your lips to look much healthier thanks to the moisturizing and regenerating properties of olive oil.
Choose lip balm wisely
Make sure you carefully read the ingredients on the label. Look for shea butter, beeswax, coconut butter, jojoba oil and other plant based essences. You may also want to choose one with SPF to protect your lips from damaging UV rays and premature ageing.
Clean before going to bed
And because we truly believe you don’t want your lips to get old premature, it is also important to know you have to remove the make-up from your lips, like the make-up from the rest of your face. This will allow skin to breath and absorb any caring products you want to offer it.
First lip-balm, then lip-gloss
Lips can look even more beautiful with a good lip-gloss or lipstick so no woman is without her favourite shade. Here’s a trick you can follow: before applying lip-gloss, protect the carrier of the colour with lip balm. Protection, excellent lipstick primer and long-lasting effect guaranteed.
Stop with bad habits immediately
Licking, biting or chewing your lips may seem a perfect solution in the given moment but these every-day subconscious routines can actually cause wrinkles and cracks on your lips due to too much moisture that plays havoc when mixed with cold air and wind.
